In 2005, the trucking industry in Kentucky paid approximately $751 million in federal and state roadway taxes and fees. The industry paid 46.4 percent of all taxes and fees owned by Kentucky motorists, despite trucks representing only 13.7 percent of vehicle miles traveled in the state.
