Meet the Staff
Guy E. Young
Guy E. Young accepted the position of President & CEO in October 2016. He has more than thirty years of experience in trade association and transportation management including industry safety, compliance and training.
A graduate of Auburn University, he has worked in all facets of the transportation management in for-profit and non-profit entities. With Guy’s previous experience at the GMTA, grant writing and business background; experience in the industry at an association level all add up as a huge value to the trucking industry and the Kentucky Trucking Association.
Young is a recognized expert on safety and regulatory compliance issues, developing educational seminars, training materials and member services programs. He has directed and coordinated safety outreach programs. He has a strong track record of working closely with other safety organizations and government agencies including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Georgia Department of Public Safety, Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, NETS, Operation Lifesaver of Georgia, and Georgia Bureau of Investigation Major Theft Unit as well as the National Safety Council and the Traffic Incident Management Task Force.
Young is a native of Gulf Shores, Alabama, attended Auburn University and holds a B.S. degree in Transportation and Physical Distribution. He lives in Johns Creek, Georgia with his wife, Tina, and they have two children. Their son, Patrick, is a graduate of the University of Georgia and now a first-year dental student at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Their daughter, Perry, is a sophomore at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Director of Safety
In more than 34 years with Law Enforcement, Glynn has served in numerous entities and earned countless recognitions and awards. Glynn served with the Louisville Division of Police for 21 years. From 1981-1993, Glynn was assigned to the Traffic Bureau where he conducted investigations on vehicle crashes; specializing in commercial vehicle accidents, for which he is a Trained Accident Reconstructionist. He was a founding member of the Technical Accident Investigation Unit and the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit. Throughout his years, Glynn was named Officer of the Month, received the Exceptional Merit Citation, and was honored with the Governor’s Award for Crime Prevention. He retired as an Officer in 1993.
After retiring from the police force, Glynn became a commercial truck driver for a year, before returning to the enforcement-side of the trucking industry in 1994; this time as an Officer with Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement (now Commercial Vehicle Enforcement). In 2005, he became the first-ever Director of the Administrative Services Division. In this position, Glynn was responsible for the New Entrant Safety Audit Program, Compliance Review Program, Training Section, monitoring of the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, and Public Education and Outreach Programs, amongst others. Gaining another award of recognition for his service, Glynn was presented the Meritorious Service Award in 2003. He retired as a Major in 2008.
Glynn graduated from the University of Louisville in 1989 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Police Administration. He was the Chairman of the Kentucky Trucking Association Safety Council from 2005-2006, and was officially hired on to the Kentucky Trucking Association Office Staff in August 2012. Since being here, he has instituted a New Entrant Safety Pre-Audit Program; available to all carriers in Kentucky. He will offer both consultations and trainings to drivers and carriers, and has previously been an Officially Certified: Commercial Vehicle Inspector, Hazardous Material Vehicle Inspector, Cargo Tank Vehicle Inspector, North American Standard Part A and B Instructor, and Passenger Vehicle Inspection Instructor. His main area of focus will be spreading the mission of Kentucky Trucking Association and growing the Carrier Members. This work will have him frequently out of the office and on the road.
Born and raised in Louisville, Glynn resides there now with his wife and three dogs.
Director of Communications
Melissa Zink is an 18+ year veteran of the trucking industry. Upon starting her career in Lexington, KY; she has been involved in service, sales, customer support and departmental management positions within the trucking industry.
Melissa has a great work ethic and an outgoing personality, she is sure to be an asset to the Kentucky Trucking Association as Director of Communications. Her duties include member communications, event planning and advertising sales, as well as receivable/payable responsibilities.
She currently resides in Lanesville, Indiana with her husband Barry, son Dylan and an older son, Tyler that lives in New Pekin, Indiana. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and anything that can be done outdoors. Contact her today for any Allied Member inquiries.
